For Yoselin Rios-Saldivar ’24 it took dreams and tremendous effort to get to Smith.
As a first-gen student, she had no role models for applying to college. In her junior year of high school, she discovered that she was way behind where she needed to be. A college prep program helped her get on track, and she took college classes on weekends and in the summer to catch up. She learned to advocate for herself.
At Smith, Yoselin values being “part of a community dedicated to learning and giving back.” She is actively pursuing her dream to become a pediatric surgeon as she continues her work with Latin American communities on education initiatives.
“Financial aid helps turn possibilities into realities,” says this junior who once despaired of going to college.
