The Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition (SCRC) is a Shippensburg University Center For Excellence and serves as a "learning lab" for the university and community resource for Shippensburg residents. Students, faculty, and staff work alongside community members to identify social service and youth needs and then work on ways to meet them. We provide a bridge for building community-university relationships. The Social Work and Community Nurse Internship Program is a new initiative that helps to prepare social workers to work in the healthcare field while providing services to the local community. The intern works alongside the Shippensburg Community Nurse, a program of the Shippensburg Civic Club. The nurse provides free in-home services such as assistance with medication boxes, wound care, and blood pressure screenings. The social work intern helps connect patients to social services and has started special initiatives such as a caregiver support group.
By donating to the SCRC during SUFGiveToo 2022, you will help provide a stipend to the student intern so that they can meet their basic needs while completing their MSW internship and providing needed services to the community.
