What would you do if your conference proposal got accepted at a prestigious research conference, but you did not have the funds to travel there to present your research? What a missed opportunity for professional networking and preparation for your future!
This is why the Graduate College of Education is creating a Graduate Student Travel Fund. Every year about 10-15 doctoral candidates have their proposals accepted through a rigorous peer review process for national conferences such as the American Educational Research Association. Not only does this acceptance rate speak highly for our Ed.D. program, it also represents an important professional experience for our students. They meet other doctoral students (forging lasting connections), present their research (speaking their knowledge aloud), and participate in a professional community that connects them to a bigger future. Student travel to a professional conference can cost $1500-2200 depending on location. Our proposed start-up fund of $15,000 can thus support 8-10 students in the first year, and we want it to do more in years to come.
Join us in supporting the future of education by supporting our Graduate Student Travel Fund – and you’ll be supporting the future of education.
Thank you for your support! #gatorgivingday
