About

Your gift to Psychology scholarships reduces financial stress and fuels student success.

At SF State, psychology is one of the largest majors at San Francisco State University, with more than 1,850 students preparing for careers in mental health, research, education, and community service.

Many of our students balance coursework with jobs, caregiving responsibilities, and financial strain. For some, an unexpected expense can delay graduation. For others, ongoing financial pressure creates stress that competes with their academic focus.

Scholarships reduce those barriers. They allow students to take the courses they need, reduce work hours, and stay on track toward graduation. They also send a powerful message that their work and aspirations matter.

Your support on #GatorsGiveDay to the Psychology Department Fund directly supports scholarships for our students. These awards provide immediate impact for the upcoming academic year and strengthen our ability to attract, retain, and graduate talented students who will serve our communities.

This year, we are awarding 15 Psychology scholarships, and with a $10,000 matching gift already in place, we have the opportunity to expand that number to 20 next year. Your generosity on #GatorsGiveDay will help us unlock the match, increase access to scholarships, and reduce financial barriers for even more students.

Why Your Gift Matters

Academic Focus: Scholarships reduce financial stress so students can fully concentrate on their learning and growth.
Community Impact: Investing in Psychology students supports future clinicians and professionals who will serve diverse communities.
Access and Equity: Scholarships expand higher education opportunities for students facing financial barriers.

Join us on March 18, 2026!

Your generosity will directly fund Psychology scholarships that reduce financial barriers and help students stay on track to graduate. With 15 scholarships already awarded and a $10,000 matching gift in place, your support can help us expand to 20 scholarships next year.

Make a gift today and invest in the future mental health workforce. Together, we can ensure that cost is not a barrier for our Gators 🐊💜💛

Grateful for all of you.

As we head into the final minutes of #GatorGivingDay, I just want post a thank you video to our donors and sharing what I love about SFSU.
We’ve raised $12,476 from 62 donors (124% of our goal). That support is going directly toward Psychology scholarships that help our students stay enrolled and continue pursuing careers in mental health, research, and community impact.

What I love about SF State is this community. Students who are committed to making a difference. Alumni who remember what it meant to be here. Faculty and staff who invest deeply in student success.

Today was a reminder of what happens when that community shows up together.

Gator Giving Day Midday Update

We’ve reached the halfway point of Gator Giving Day, and the Psychology Department is building steady momentum.

So far, we have raised $1,050 from donors, reaching 10% of our $10,000 goal with about 12 hours remaining.

This is a strong start, and it reflects something important: participation is growing across our community.

As we move into the afternoon and evening, there are several opportunities that can significantly increase our impact:

First-Time Donor Match (Campus-Wide) First-time donors who give $50 or more receive an additional $50 match (while funds last). This is a powerful way to bring new supporters into the Psychology community.

Faculty & Staff Matching Challenge (Active Now) Funds with the highest number of faculty and staff donors will receive additional awards: • $2,000 (1st place) • $1,000 (2nd place) • $1,000 (3rd place) This challenge is based on the number of donors, not the size of gifts.

Student Donor Match (Campus-Wide) Student gifts are also being matched, providing another way to increase participation and impact.

Across all of these opportunities, one theme is clear: every donor matters. Even small gifts help us unlock additional funding and expand scholarship support.

Most importantly, every dollar raised today goes directly toward Psychology scholarships that help students stay enrolled, reduce financial pressure, and continue toward their academic and professional goals.

We’re grateful for the strong start and excited about what we can accomplish together in the hours ahead.

Thank you for being part of this effort and for investing in our students.

Gator Giving Day Morning Update

Gator Giving Day is off to a strong start for the Psychology Department.

We began the day early, building momentum across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter and inviting our community to take part. Throughout the morning, we’ve been encouraging simple actions, sharing the page, reaching out to personal networks, and participating in Giving Day challenges, to expand support for student scholarships.

We are excited to share that we have already received donations from three members of our community, representing a meaningful mix of support:

This is exactly how Giving Day builds.

Most importantly, every gift supports Psychology scholarships that help our students stay enrolled, reduce financial pressure, and continue toward their academic and professional goals.

We’re grateful for the strong start this morning and look forward to building momentum throughout the day.

If you haven’t yet participated, there is still time to make a gift or share the campaign with your network.

Thank you for being part of this effort and for investing in our students.
