Taking Steps Toward Health Equity: Supporting Future Podiatric Physicians in Public Health and Community Service

Our American Public Health Association (APHA) chapter at Samuel Merritt University is raising funds to expand our ability to serve underserved communities while providing valuable professional development opportunities for podiatric medical students.

Throughout the year, our members participate in community health fairs, outreach events, and volunteer efforts such as Suitcase Clinic, where we provide health education, healthcare resources, and support to individuals with limited access to care.

Funds will help purchase essential medical supplies for Suitcase Clinic and other community outreach initiatives.

Donations will also help offset registration and travel costs for students attending the APHA Annual Meeting & Expo, where they can learn from public health professionals, present research, and bring new knowledge back to our campus and communities.

Additional funds will support educational workshops and service activities that strengthen students' clinical skills and prepare them to become compassionate healthcare providers and public health advocates.
