Gifts to Musical Theatre contribute to...
"We've got magic to do!" For the first time since 2019, our Spring 2026 production will be a book musical. We are delighted to be producing the musical PIPPIN (Winner of 4 Tony Awards in 2013, including Best Revival). We look forward to bringing this early work of Stephen Schwartz (who is famous for the spectacle Wicked) to life on the LeFevre stage.
Our students say it all the time: they want the opportunity to perform in a musical! Musical Theatre has a unique way of speaking directly to the soul: the drama. The spectacle. The soaring harmonies. And our students are ready to step into the challenge! The Performing Arts department at Saint Mary’s offers rigorous, conservatory-caliber training in acting, movement, and music. Now, we’re in search of some committed and generous donors who can help us close the gap on producing a beloved piece of musical theatre! Your contributions will be used to help us pay for performance rights, specialty personnel, sets, costumes, etc.
Let's all be "Extraordinary" and help make some beautiful art together!
Quotes from our students:
“The Theatre program at Saint Mary's has given me opportunities that have shaped my passions and interests as an aspiring artist. I have found space to express my creativity through contributing to each production that I work on. As someone who has participated as a performer, a designer, and the stage manager, I have gained insight and experience from each opportunity I'm offered that will help me as I step into the professional theatre industry after graduating this Spring.” Carolyn Gersten, '26
“I’ve knownI was meant for the stage ever since I was a kid, and being able to explore Theatre at Saint Mary's has been a fundamental experience in knowing myself and
my love for theater much better. Thanks to SMC's Theatre Scholarship, I’ve
been able to make connections with directors and professors that I would likely not have been able to at a different school." Melody Ng, '26
“Saint Mary’s Theatre allowed me to put myself out there and return to acting, something I hadn’t done since I was quite young, in a supportive and encouraging space. Through participating in the shows, I was able to find a new community and friendships that
continued even beyond my involvement in the shows.” Anya Tang, '26
“The Theatre Program at Saint Mary’s has significantly helped me with doing things
out of my comfort zone by putting me in roles I have never been in before. And, as a Theatre Minor, the classes that I have been taking have really expanded my knowledge of many different acting techniques.” James Fleischman, '28
“Since graduating from Saint Mary's in 2019, I have worked as a teaching artist, actor, director, and dramaturg with some of the best theatre companies in the Bay Area, including American Conservatory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and California Shakespeare Theater.” Kimiya Shokri, '19
