Blueline 40th Anniversary

Join us in celebrating the Adirondacks and regions similar in spirit and geography. Since 1979, Blueline has featured quality poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and art focused on nature’s shaping influence. While always promoting Adirondack writing and art, Blueline also publishes works that interpret the literature and culture of northern New York, New England, and eastern Canada. In recent issues Blueline has also featured exceptional nonfiction about places as far afield as Alaska and North Dakota and as close to home as the Hudson Valley.
Blueline was launched in 1979 in Blue Mountain Lake by the editor and writer Alice Wolf Gilborn. In 1989, Gilborn arranged to create a permanent home for Blueline within the Department of English and Communication at SUNY Potsdam. It’s an honor to continue the magazine’s well-respected legacy. The current editors are Stephanie Coyne DeGhett (poetry), Annie Stoltie (nonfiction), and Donald J. McNutt as fiction editor and editor in chief. Karen Wilson is our tireless managing editor. We typically train and rely on 4-5 student interns per year.
Each issue publishes the works of about 80 writers, both established and new writers. We also feature 2-3 regional visual artists in each issue. All of our contributors receive a copy of Blueline as payment for one-time publication rights.
Blueline is printed each year in May. Our exceptional printer is the Sheridan Press in Hanover, PA.
Your gift will help offset the costs of publishing, as well as contribute to student programs that run in connection with Blueline at SUNY Potsdam.
