Gifts to Summer String Camp Scholarships contribute to...
Fredonia’s Summer Music Festival String Program is an immersive, week-long experience designed for dedicated violin, viola, cello, and double bass players in grades 8–12. Led by Fredonia’s distinguished string faculty and guest artists, students participate in daily orchestra rehearsals, chamber music, and technique classes, while also experiencing inspiring faculty performances. The program culminates in a final concert that highlights the growth and artistry students develop throughout the week.
For area high school students, the String Camp offers a rare opportunity to refine their skills in a supportive, collegiate environment while building confidence, independence, and meaningful connections with fellow musicians. At the same time, it serves as a powerful introduction to the Fredonia School of Music—giving students firsthand experience with campus life, close mentorship from faculty, and a vision of their future as collegiate musicians. Many participants leave with a stronger sense of purpose and a clear pathway to continue their studies at Fredonia.
However, the cost of attendance—ranging from $785 to $1,020 for the week—can present a barrier for some families. Scholarships are essential in helping ensure that talented students are not excluded due to financial limitations. While scholarship awards vary based on need, the average award of $100 can make a meaningful difference in a student’s ability to attend. Gifts of any size directly help offset these costs, expanding access to this transformative experience and strengthening the pipeline of future Fredonia music students.
This Day of Giving, consider supporting scholarships for the Summer String Camp. Your generosity helps remove financial barriers, empowers young musicians, and invests in the next generation of artists who will thrive at Fredonia and beyond.
