Gifts to Student Teaching Transportation Fund contribute to...
Student Teaching is the capstone experience for Education Majors. Despite the best efforts of the Office of Field Experience, some students have placements up to 60 miles from their residence. This can mean travelling 600 miles per week for 7-14 weeks. This entails a significant expense in their last semester, which cannot be covered by financial aid. Additionally, transportation to early field experiences, while generally close to campus, can still be difficult for students without a car.
The transportation fund will provide stipends to students to offset the expenses associated with student teaching and early field experiences, costs unique to students in teacher preparation programs. Our goal is to have students placed in schools that will best prepare them for their future career and minimize the impact of transportation costs on their options. While we don't intend to fully subsidize students travel to and from their placements, we want to reduce the impact of rising gas prices on students at the furthest distances from their assigned schools. Money donated during this campaign will be designated for student placements in the 2026-2027 school year.
Thank you for your consideration, and for supporting our future educators!
