Community-Based Music Making & Learning

Fredonia houses one of the nation’s largest music teacher education programs. Our exceptional faculty are not only experienced educators, but also active scholars, who are dedicated to helping students be prepared to innovate within existing contexts and to expand the boundaries of music education by envisioning and enacting new practices.

We are seeking support to develop a traveling set of digital instruments to facilitate creating beats and other vernacular music stylings. This equipment will be used by our students and faculty to travel to schools and community centers throughout our region, building connections with prospective students and community members in their own spaces, and empowering regional teachers who seek to engage their students in, around, and through music in ways they find meaningful.
