Gifts to Institute for Composer Diversity contribute to...
Fredonia's Institute for Composer Diversity (ICD)—winner of the 2018 ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Media/Internet Award, and a recipient of a 2020 Sphinx Venture Fund Grant—is dedicated to the celebration, education, and advocacy of music created by composers from historically excluded groups through database resources and programming analysis.
ICD has been helping organizations and musicians nationwide diversify their programming and explore works by composers from historically excluded groups. A new project ICD needs support for is growing the number of available scores by women/non-binary composers and composers of color in Reed Library. The Institute’s searchable database resources list over 39,000 chamber, art song, choral, band, and orchestral works, and we hope to help Reed Library provide these works for Fredonia students, and for musicians across the country through interlibrary loan.
