Support the SDSU Robotics Club
The South Dakota State University Robotics Club is the largest multidisciplinary engineering organization on campus, bringing together more than 50 students from electrical, mechanical, computer, and architectural engineering, as well as nursing and other disciplines. What makes us unique is the breadth of hands-on, student-led engineering projects we operate each year.
Our work currently centers around three major projects:
Collegiate Combat Robotics (CCR)
Members design and manufacture robots in multiple weight classes for one-on-one combat competitions. Students gain experience in computer-aided design, milling, drilling, machining, and 3D printing using materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, and TPU. Our teams have competed in Norwalk, Connecticut and Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we hope to fund 1 to 3 new student-led one-pound combat robot projects this year.
JACKS VEXU
Our VEXU team builds two robots for cooperative problem-solving challenges under a rigorous ruleset, documenting the entire yearlong design process. Since our founding in 2023, we have consistently ranked among the top ten out of more than 200 teams worldwide and regularly earn top honors at competitions. This January, we hosted the JACKS Carrot Cup, welcoming 23 high school and 8 college teams from across the Midwest. While hosting was a major commitment of time and resources, we hope to continue this event next year.
MATE ROV (Marine Advanced Technology Education)
This newer project focuses on designing, building, and programming a remotely operated submarine. PCB design and software programming are central to the project, and the team regularly travels off campus to test the vehicle. We compete annually in Longmont, Colorado, making travel a significant part of our budget.
Our $5,000 fundraising goal will be allocated among our teams based on need, helping cover competition travel expenses, manufacturing costs, and new project development. With four trips remaining this semester alone, your support directly helps students continue competing, innovating, and representing SDSU.
