About

Support the SDSU American Fisheries Society Student Subunit

From February 24โ€“26, the Wildlife Society and American Fisheries Society (AFS) will host a joint meeting in Brookings, South Dakota, bringing together professionals and students to share scientific research and advancements in wildlife and fisheries management.

During this event, the SDSU American Fisheries Society Student Subunit will host a raffle to raise funds that support student activities and professional development opportunities. Funds raised will help students assist graduate researchers and partner with agencies such as South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks on research projects and field experiences. These hands-on opportunities benefit both the agencies and the students, providing real-world experience that strengthens career readiness.

Support will also help our chapter network with industry professionals and invite guest speakers to campus, with funds assisting in covering travel expenses for these experts.

What makes our subunit unique is our connection to the National American Fisheries Society. As part of this larger professional network, our members have access to fisheries professionals and chapters across the country, creating meaningful opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and career advancement in fisheries science.

Your support helps prepare the next generation of fisheries professionals while strengthening partnerships that protect and manage aquatic resources for the future.
