Dr. Irving Pikscher, DPM 1974 touched the lives of many SCPM students through his role as an instructor at SCPM and surgical residency program director of Sacred Heart and Lakeside Hospitals. Dr Pikscher was one of the early residents at Franklin Boulevard Community Hospital; one of the pioneering podiatric surgery programs in the country. He spoke at many CME Meetings and authored numerous textbook chapters and clinical papers. He was a wonderful teacher and a dear friend to many of us.

You may know of Irving Pikscher, DPM as a talented surgeon, an instructor at ICPM, or Podiatric Surgical Residency Director, author of numerous scientific publications, Speaker at CME meetings or simply a man with a wonderful sense of humor that loved to eat. He was articulate and possessed a unique presence at the podium with a dry sense of humor.
Irv had a real passion for almost every aspect of life. He sacrificed an enormous amount of his time for his students and residents. Each of them developed a sincere appreciation of Irv’s commitment to their education.

He also had a great sense of humor and loved Chinese food....you'd often see whatever he ate for lunch on his tie. He was very entertaining and always laughing about something.... But he was also very reassuring, and made you feel quite comfortable being a surgeon. Irv was a tireless teacher.... often working on slides for a presentation at 2 or 3am...."

"Irv had a heart of gold. if you need a favor he said it's done, didn't ask why..."
