About us:
The African Student Union is dedicated to forming bonds between African students at Rollins and the Orlando community. Our goal is to create a space where individuals interested in African culture, music, and cuisine can come together, interact, socialize, and learn. ASU is open to all students of all backgrounds and ethnicities. We aim to encourage and enhance awareness about African issues, culture, and values.
What we do:
- Host Cultural Events: We organise game nights, food tastings, dance nights, and gatherings that celebrate African heritage and connect the Rollins community.
- Build Community: We create a supportive space where students can share experiences, form friendships, and feel at home.
- Promote Awareness: We educate the campus about African traditions, history, and current issues through discussions, panels, and cultural showcases.
- Foster Collaboration: We partner with other student organisations to strengthen cultural ties.
Why we need your help:
Student Philanthropy Week fundraising efforts will support our goal of hosting more activities on campus, such as game nights and gatherings where everyone can feel supported and have fun. It will provide the necessary items to accommodate and help all the active members feel comfortable.
