About

The Roger Williams Men’s Soccer family lost one of its brothers during the COVID Pandemic.  However due to restrictions at that time, we weren’t able to celebrate his life and memory in the fashion it deserved. Scott Christopher Callagy, 51, devoted husband, father, son, and friend passed away on Sunday March 22, 2020. He was born on March 8, 1969 in Eugene Oregon. A resident of Dallas, Texas, he was raised in Flushing, N.Y., Lynbrook, N.Y., Redding, Conn., and Cape Cod, Mass. He graduated High School from Falmouth Academy in Falmouth, Mass. and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roger Williams, playing on their varsity soccer team.

Everyone who knew “Scotty” considered him a best friend as he always made you feel like the center of the universe. He was bigger than life and lit up every room he walked into with the unmistaken smile of someone who was about to start the fun. His one of a kind laugh and spirit of amusement brought so much comfort and warmth to everyone around him.

He was a man of many talents in addition to being a key member of  RWU’s Soccer Team. As an avid sailor, he worked as first mate on the tall ship sailing vessel "Vadura" in the Mediterranean. During this time, he completed an Atlantic crossing with his dad. He loved to entertain with cooking being a particular passion. His favorite times were spent planning and preparing delicious meals with family and friends.

We will be celebrating Scott’s life at Roger Williams University's Homecoming October 18-20, 2024. There will be plenty of activities over that weekend to remember and honor Scott, including a ceremony in conjunction with the Men’s Soccer game on Saturday afternoon, October 19. This event will include a dedication ceremony where we will be donating bench shelters in Scott’s name to be installed over the Home and Away bench areas. The money raised from this donation drive will be used to cover the cost of these bench shelters to honor our friend and teammate, Scott Callagy. Thank you for your donation and we hope you can join us October 18 - 20, 2024 to celebrate Scott's life in the best way possible, through good times, laughter and tell lots of stories. Please be sure to include your email when you make a gift so we can communicate details about the October event.
