Gifts to Society of Rice University Women (SRUW) and Friends Endowment for Fondren Library contribute to...

The Society of Rice University Women (SRUW) and Friends' leaders have established an endowment for Fondren Library. In the past that endowment has supported the purchase of books and the transcription of handwritten archival documents. Today’s contributions to the endowment will help to sustain and strengthen the library, Rice’s academic hub.
Established in 1968, SRUW and Friends celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018. SRUW’s purpose is to promote a continuing and effective dialogue between the university and its members. Originally formed as an alumnae group, SRUW and Friends is now open to all: male and female, alumni and non-alumni friends of Rice. We recently changed our name to Society of Rice University Women and Friends to emphasize that we welcome everyone. SRUW and Friends holds an annual speaker series in the fall and spring; sponsors evening events with authors of recent books; and coordinates field trips. Join us for one program or the whole series.
