About

The class of 1973 Golden Anniversary Committee has set a goal of raising $40,000 in celebration of this once-in-a-lifetime milestone.

Because of RIC, our reach is endless! We have made a difference in the lives of others and in ourselves. Our classmates live in 35 different states and have had the benefit of an education that enabled us to pursue careers, for some of us to raise families and for all of us to enjoy a quality of life that would otherwise not have been possible.

Please consider a generous gift to the Class of 1973 Fund in honor of our 50th milestone year. For some of you, this will be your first gift to the college. Others of you have made gifts in the past and many of you continue to be very generous supporters. This is a special year and we are asking all our classmates to reach and give what you can.

We’d love to show support from every state (all 35) in which our classmates live. You can help encourage friends and classmates from your res hall, sports team, major, sorority/fraternity, club or organization, class officers, Student Parliament, to show their support for RIC for this once-in-a lifetime milestone.

Our Class of 1973 Fund will support two gifts: One of legacy to represent the strength and value of a RIC degree -and- One of need to help address food insecurity, a growing challenge for RIC students

Legacy To represent the legacy and strength of a RIC degree, we plan to commission a sculpture of the college flame inside a 9’ arch as an installation near the Quad where so many of us gathered as students. It will provide a new tradition for students and alums as the perfect campus photo opportunity.

Need With a student body that is nearly half Pell-eligible, many of our students are facing food insecurity. Learning for Life (known as L4L) is a campus resource and support for students providing multiple services including the “Food 4 Thought” food pantry. During the 2019-2020 year, the food pantry was utilized by 627 students for a total of 2204 times. The pantry was recently relocated to a larger space on the East Campus to help accommodate the growing need.
