Dr. Teresa Coffman, Professor of Music at Rhode Island College, retires this year after decades of service to the College and its students. During her career she led the vocal and choral program and directed the Concert Chorus, Chamber Singers, and Women’s Chorus, taught conducting and voice, led ensembles on international tours, and had a profound and positive impact on generations of musicians and music educators. Professor Coffman has been recognized by the RIC Faculty of Arts and Sciences Paul Maixner Distinguished Teaching Award and the RIC Alumni Faculty Award. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Houston, is an expert in contemporary choral music, and has conducted choirs throughout the South, Midwest and New England regions.
In honor of Teresa Coffman's retirement, please consider a gift to the Deborah Griffin Collegiate Scholarship Fund. This fund was created by Professor Coffman and Deborah’s close colleagues in memory of beloved RIC Music Education student Deborah Griffin. It supports full-time Music Education voice students who demonstrate a commitment to singing, teaching, and the greater community.
