About

Help us celebrate a century of early learning excellence by revitalizing our outdoor play and discovery space for our youngest learners, university researchers, and future educators.

For 100 years, the Ben and Maxine Miller Child Development Laboratory School has been a cornerstone of early childhood education, discovery, and mentorship on campus. Every day, we open our doors to children from six weeks through age five, providing a nurturing, high-quality environment where curiosity is sparked and foundational skills are built.

But our impact extends far beyond our classroom walls:

  • Providing premier, developmentally centered care and education for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Serving as a living laboratory for faculty and student researchers exploring child development, psychology, and innovative teaching practices.
  • Offering essential hands-on practicum and mentorship opportunities for university students preparing for careers in education, healthcare, and child advocacy.

Outdoor play is not just recess—it is a vital classroom. It is where infants and toddlers test motor milestones, preschoolers build social problem-solving skills, and university researchers observe development in motion.

To honor our Centennial Anniversary, we are raising funds to completely refresh and upgrade our outdoor playground equipment.

Your gift directly funds:

  • Developmentally Appropriate Equipment: Inclusive, age-specific structures designed specifically for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Sensory & Natural Play Elements: Hands-on spaces that encourage exploration, balance, and cooperative play.
  • Safe, Dynamic Observation Spaces: A modernized outdoor environment designed to support university researchers and practicum students as they observe and engage with young children
