This scholarship is in memory of April Carter-Schiavo. April was a 2013 graduate of PCC’s Vet Tech program who we lost to breast cancer in 2017. This scholarship is awarded annually and supports a student with financial need in the Veterinary Technology program.
April was a champion for animals--her own dogs and cats as well as all of Portland’s furry creatures. After graduating from PCC, she worked at Banfield Pet Hospital and volunteered at the Humane Society when her illness wouldn’t allow her to work full-time. This scholarship was set up by her family--biological and chosen--to keep her passion for the well-being of the furry (and scaly and feathery) ones alive. It’s brought such joy to those who miss her to support the education of a student for the past six years and when we reach this year’s fundraising goal, we will be able to continue to offer annual scholarships while the endowment matures to the point of funding an annual scholarship for the life of PCC.
Join us as we work to raise $3,000 for the April Carter-Schiavo Memorial Vet Tech Scholarship on Big Give Day by giving a gift now!
Be sure to encourage your friends to do the same by sharing Big Give Day on social media using the hashtag #PCCBigGiveDay.
