About

In partnership with the Pitzer administration, Larry Raskin P’23 and Ramesh Sinaee, M.D. P’23 established the Strive2Thrive Program in 2019 to address the mental health epidemic sweeping higher education institutions and to better support the wellness needs of Pitzer students. With the changes in the world over the past few years, the need to provide mental wellbeing services to help students is more crucial than ever.

As mental health advocates aware of the increasing demand for mental health and wellness support by college students around the globe today, especially among Pitzer students, Larry and Ramesh have initiated the Strive2Thrive Campaign. The campaign will further build and expand support for the mental wellbeing of Pitzer students as they become the changemakers they aspire to be.

Larry and Ramesh are pledging $100,000 to kickstart this initiative with the intent of raising an additional $400,000 to better support the critical wellbeing needs of our students. This additional assistance will help to provide for the following:

  • Infrastructure: reimagining the first floor of the Gold Student Health and Wellness Center as a designated wellness space.
  • Counseling, case management, and administrative support: increasing staffing and resources to provide vital support to students.
  • Programming and student engagement: increasing operational budgets for student, faculty, and staff-run wellness programs, including Wellness Wednesday, Mental Health and Wellness Ambassadors, Pitzer Advocates for Survivors of Sexual Assault, and more.
  • Equitable access for diverse student populations: offering specific academic support and mental health resources to diverse student groups, including neurodiverse (ADHD and Autism Spectrum), first-generation, international, New Resource Students (NRS), and historically marginalized students.

Mental health affects everyone—it is non-denominational, non-partisan, and non-discriminatory, and no one is immune to illness. With your help, Pitzer College can continue to cultivate a nurturing environment of strong mental health support for current and future students by providing essential wellness programs and resources through the College’s Strive2Thrive program.

Change the landscape for the Pitzer student experience and make a life-affirming impact by donating to the Strive2Thrive Fund today!
