My name is Sadie, and I'm a senior studying Biology at Olivet Nazarene University!
My walk at Olivet has brought a new recognition of God's faithfulness in my life and His goodness in the plans He created us for. In Ephesians 2:10, the Word describes us as God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. It is my honor that the work God would have for me is caring for women burdened with cancer across the world. Although cervical cancer is preventable if detected early enough, Papua New Guinea has a 1.6 times higher incidence rate of cervical cancer than the average for all low- and lower-middle income countries.
With my mentor, Dr. Vander Schaaf, I've spent the last year preparing a cost-sustainable test for cervical cancer screening for use at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea. After having the opportunity to meet and serve the women there last summer, we are blessed by the potential of this test to be integrated in clinical practice and help in saving lives! The beautiful people of Papua New Guinea have changed mine.
I am honored to return to them this summer and anticipate His guiding in the works He prepared for those prevalent on His heart. Thank you with all my heart for considering this way of sending me back to those we love alongside Him!
