About

Rocketry is developing of Rocketry's first competition rocket, the Phoenix IV that will fly to 10,000 feet at the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition.

This is going to be Olin’s first sounding rocket, making Rocketry the first Olin project team to reach the speed of sound. Funding enables our team of 30 students to develop the skills needed for success in the aerospace industry through student researched and developed rockets, mentorship from industry professionals, masterclasses on various topics, and a robust community surrounding our project team.

Olin Rocketry is an undergraduate project team working to design, build and launch Olin’s first sounding rocket that will
compete in the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition in the 10,000-ft category. Our team of 30 students aims
to gain engineering experience and create an aerospace community on campus while becoming the first Olin project
team to reach the speed of sound.

Being able to build the Phoenix IV flight vehicle and launch it to 10,000 ft at the Spaceport America Cup would fulfill a longtime goal of our team. After deferring going to competition for two years due to COVID, we are eager to finally travel to New Mexico and compete against other collegiate rocketry teams. Since the founding of the team in 2017, we've been working towards this goal and it's really exciting to be in the position we're in now.

Our team is comprised of five subteams that focus on developing the Phoenix IV competition rocket for the upcoming competition: structures, avionics, recovery, payload, and systems. Additionally, the engine project operates in parallel to develop custom motors for future competition flight vehicles.

Within our team, four majors (MechE, ECE, E:Robotics, and E:Computing) and all class years are represented, and 35% of the team is female identifying. As a small and tight-knit teams, newer members work closely with subteam leads and senior mentors to onboard and learn the skills they need.

This year, we would like to offer tokens of appreciation for your gifts at the following tiers:

$50 - Olin Rocketry sticker
$100 - "Remove Before Flight" tag OR Olin Rocketry mask
$200 - Olin Rocketry shirt
$300 - Olin Rocketry outback hat

We will be in touch with you after the end of the crowdfunding campaign about your gifts - thank you for your support!
