As Oberlin College responds to the COVID-19 crisis by transitioning to remote instruction by March 30th, we are committed to meeting the unanticipated moving, travel, and technology needs of our students. In response to generous offers from alumni, parents, and friends, we have established a Student Emergency Aid Campaign to help meet these needs. Your support will provide immediate assistance—from groceries to transportation—to help us provide as seamless an Oberlin educational experience as possible in the weeks ahead.
Dear Obies and Emergency Aid Fund Supporters:
Thank you for making a gift to Oberlin College Student Emergency Aid. You are making an immediate impact in the lives of our current students while we all face this challenging and disruptive time due to COVID-19. In a time where it feels like most things are uncertain, it is comforting to know that we have a strong family of Obies who care deeply about students. Your generous support assisted multiple students:
- Covered the cost of flights for students returning from study abroad programs, including assistance for a first-generation, low-income Posse Scholar who needed to return from New Zealand
- Arranged flights home for low-income students
- Purchased technical equipment for low-income students, including mobile hotspots and laptops to assist with remote learning needs.
- Purchased USB microphones and provided access to a musical accompaniment app for Conservatory students
- Provided delivery of food and supplies to students living at home in need
There are many difficulties associated with this disruption, and, thanks to you, costs will be less of a burden for our students as they finish the semester.
With appreciation,
The Office of Advancement
