About

The Dr. Vogel and Dr. Wold Visual Impairment Scholarship was established to create funding for students at Northern State University who are pursuing the Visual Impairment Master’s Degree . This program prepares educators to meet South Dakota Department of Education endorsement requirements for teaching students who are blind or visually impaired. This program develops the specialized knowledge and practical skills to support learners with vision loss, including foundations of vision and eye health, orientation and mobility, instructional strategies and assistive technologies, and Braille and Nemeth Code literacy. This area is in critical need across the United States, and Northern State is currently the only school in South Dakota that offers this program.
