NIU understands that unexpected hardships can threaten a student’s path to graduation. That’s why the Huskie Promise includes essential support systems ready to step in when students face financial or personal crises. With donor support, the Huskie Promise becomes more than a program, it becomes a promise kept—for every Huskie, every time.

Huskie Promise Impact Examples Include

• $3,000 could fully support a student’s unpaid internship or study abroad experience, ensuring access to transformational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach
• $1,500 could provide a scholarship to bridge the average financial aid gap for one student
• $600 could underwrite the cost of one student to participate in NIU Braven, a semester-long career accelerator that equips undergraduates with the skills, experiences, and networks they need to land a strong first job after graduation
• $150 could provide emergency funding to help a student navigate an unexpected expense, like a car repair, medical bill, or food insecurity
• $50 could support tutoring, writing center sessions, or supplemental instruction
