Department of Biological Sciences

Biology is a diverse and rapidly expanding field of study that addresses issues relevant to health, agriculture, industry and the environment. Biologists are responsible for new discoveries in medicine and molecular biology, increasing crop yields and pest resistance, defining ecological relationships and examining the origins and evolution of species.

Students learn and conduct research alongside faculty who are highly regarded and internationally known. Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to seek mentors and engage in research early in their academic careers. These experiences build critical, career-ready skills.

Our program is highly regarded by employers and educational institutions, allowing graduates to pursue careers in government, education and industry. Many continue into graduate and professional programs including medical, dental, veterinary and pharmacy fields.
