The Center for Latino and Latin American Studies serves as the home for the interdisciplinary study of the history and culture of Latin America as well as Latinx experiences in the United States. We offer a minor in Latino and Latin American Studies, graduate certificate in Latin American Studies, academic and cultural programming, and mentored research opportunities.
We provide students with many unique opportunities to get involved and make the most of their time as Huskies. We also connect students to scholarship resources, host distinguished speakers from universities across the United States, and regularly sponsor cultural and community events.
During Huskies United, your gift to the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies Excellence Fund will support:
- Student researchers involved with the NIU Latinx Oral History Project who will work one-on-one and in teams with NIU faculty and staff
- Our annual interdisciplinary conference, Treinta y Tres, which features the research and artistry of NIU faculty and students
- The Center for Latino and Latin American Studies Scholarship, which allows us to recruit and retain talented Huskies
