Help us put the cuffs on Cancer.
In 2018, then-Chief Kelli Smith brought the Pink Patch Project to the Northern Arizona University Police Department. This nationwide initiative raises awareness about breast cancer, a cause close to the hearts of Chief Smith and several of our officers who have been personally impacted by this disease.
Every October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, NAUPD officers swap out their standard patches for a vibrant pink version to show solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Alongside this symbolic change, we invite our community to join us in making a real impact.
Ways to support the cause...
For a donation of $10, you’ll receive a limited-edition 2026 NAUPD Pink Patch. Each year’s design is unique—making them meaningful keepsakes and collector's items.
*Patches distributed while supplies last. Limit of five patches per donor.

Your donations make a difference.
Since 2018, we have raised over $16,000 through the Pink Patch Project, and those funds have supported organizations such as:
- The Cancer Center of Northern Arizona Healthcare
- The Partnership for Native American Cancer Prevention
- Cancer Support Community of Northern Arizona
Elevating the Cancer Center of Northern Arizona Healthcare.
This year, all proceeds will once again benefit the Cancer Center of Northern Arizona Healthcare, ensuring local patients and families have access to vital care and resources.
Together, we can honor those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and bring hope to our community.
Please consider donating today, and help us put the cuffs on cancer!
