The NC Wesleyan baseball program is built on a legacy of achievement: two national championships, 33 All-Americans, 19 regular-season championships, 23 NCAA berths, and 7 retired jerseys. Founded by Dr. Raymond “Moe” Bauer, Battling Bishops Baseball was Wesleyan’s first varsity sport. In 1961, with the help of local contractors, the team’s home diamond—now Bauer Field—came to life. Over the years, the generosity of alumni, donors, and local baseball fans has funded numerous upgrades to the facility.
The 2024–2025 year saw a major improvement with the construction of new covered batting cages, featuring two full batting tunnels, portable mounds, and lighting, making year-round training a reality for our student-athletes. On the field, Javi Quintana ’25 earned All-Region honors last season and returns this year alongside Andrew Tubb ’22 as part of the coaching staff.
In the classroom, NCWU Baseball excelled with a 3.3 spring GPA, representing majors from Business Administration to Exercise Science, Psychology, and more. Our student-athletes hail from high schools across Eastern North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, New York, and Ohio, showcasing talent from near and far.
With your support, Battling Bishops Baseball aims to further enhance its covered batting cages, ensuring top-level training year-round. Help our student-athletes continue to build pride, skill, and excellence #ForWesleyan!
