The Theatre and Health Lab is the research hub of the Program in Drama Therapy in the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. We study how drama therapy and related theatre processes such as imagination, pretend play, improvisation, storytelling, playwriting, acting, and witnessing can facilitate health and well-being. We also document and share therapeutic innovations in drama therapy through our Drama Therapy as Performance video series.
With your support, the Theatre and Health Lab will be able to:
- Support research about the impact of drama therapy
- Support the Lab’s collaborative efforts in the community.
- Encourage the sharing of knowledge through publications and short documentaries.
As a donor to the Theatre and Health Lab Fund, you help us take the field forward by advancing our understanding of how, why, and with whom drama therapy can be effective.
