University administrator Allison Avolio is passionate about the development of the whole student during undergraduate educational years. As the Deputy to the Dean of Student Life at Johns Hopkins University, she directly sees the impact of her work, watching with pride as students she has guided through challenges and successes cross the commencement stage.

“Hearing from former students – months or even years afterward – as they share a ‘thank you’ and that they learned something from me, is my greatest source of career satisfaction.”

Allison earned her Muskingum Bachelor of Arts degree in History and her Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Slippery Rock University. She joined Johns Hopkins in 2014, after serving in various student affairs positions at Muskingum, Oberlin College, and Bowling Green State University.

She and her partner Seth Binder reside in Baltimore, Maryland.
