Leaders of the Line

Muskingum received the NetVUE Vocation across the Academy Grant Supporting Young Men of Color to develop a vocational exploration program that intentionally connects male students of color with community partners through structured workshops, peer-mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Program activities align with existing institutional advising goals and student learning outcomes that are grounded in vocational exploration, through tailored programming that reflects and affirms the participants’ identity and experience and strengthens connections with community partners.

Project Goals:

• Engagement in vocational exploration (meaning, purpose, values, career goals)
• Participation in vocational exploration opportunities (shadowing, interviewing, networking)
• Increase job and graduate school placements
• Develop a network of alumni to engage & develop current students
• Establish relationships with community partners
• Develop a peer mentoring program to foster sense of belonging
• Improve retention & graduation rates
