Through crowdfunding, the Missouri State University Choral Studies program has been able to pay for the cost of outdoor performance attire and also raise funds for a much-needed choral endowment.
We originally set out to raise $13,500, but ended up raising $50,000 through the generosity of over 250 donors from across the world.
Our long-term goal for the endowment is $1,000,000, which would generate approximately $40,000/year for the program. This would dramatically increase support for experiences and opportunities for students.
Additional gifts to MSU Choral Endowment may be made here: missouristate.edu/chorale2017.
MSU alumni that make a qualifying gift of $25 or more receive an Active Alumni Member card.

2842 days ago by Cameron LaBarrGood afternoon,
Thank you for your support of the MSU Choral Studies Program. Through your generosity, we have been able to not only pay for the attire for the Chorale at the Inauguration, we have been able to start the MSU Choral Endowment Fund.
Our campaign ended yesterday, and reached $50,000!
In the long term, we plan to grow this endowment fund to $1,000,000, which would generate approximately $40,000/year for the program for years to come! Exciting times are ahead!
This all started with your contribution. We are thrilled to have had over 260 donors as part of this endeavor.
While the crowdfunding site is now closed, people can still contribute to the Choral Endowment by visiting missouristate.edu/Chorale2017.
Please stay in touch with us! We hope to see you at the upcoming Chorale Concert on March 26, 6pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Sincerely,
Cameron LaBarr
Good evening -
We have some exciting news! A generous supporter has recently offered a $5,000 matching gift, meaning that every donation received between now and February 28 will be doubled!
If we are able to raise $5,000 by the end of the month, we will be able to fully fund the formation of the MSU Choral Endowment!
Will you consider helping us get there? Every donation counts (and is doubled!).
You can donate here:
We hope you will consider giving again to support the future of the MSU Choral Studies program.
Best,
Cameron LaBarr
Dear MSU Chorale Supporters and Friends,
Our campaign is running for another 2 days. Jan 31 is the final day to give. Will you consider making another gift to to help us reach the stretch goal of $43,500? This will create an endowment for the choral program, supporting opportunities like this one for years to come!
We appreciate your donation to this incredible endeavor. This was truly an experience that these students will never forget. More importantly, the MSU Chorale was able to share a message of peace, unity, and love with the entire world.
Check out this blog page for some great tracking of what we experienced, including a video of the performance:

3023 days ago by Melanie EarlGood morning,
Thank you for your continued support of the MSU Chorale. We're now on the way to raising a much-needed Choral Endowment Fund. Our goal to make this happen is $43,500.
Today is #GivingTuesday, which has evolved as a true global day of giving. We hope that you will continue to share this campaign with your friends and perhaps will consider giving again to celebrate this special day of giving. Every donation puts us one step closer to the goal. Read more about the #GivingTuesday movement here: https://www.givingtuesday.org.
The Chorale is working hard this week and next on the music to be performed both at the inauguration and at the inauguration concert. I can't wait for each of you to hear the result. This is truly going to be impactful for many.
In case you are new to this list of supporters, I'll include the newly written text that the Chorale will be singing: Now We Belong.
Once again - thank you for being a part of this!
Go Bears!

3039 days ago by Cameron LaBarrDear MSU Chorale Supporters,
Wow! We've reached our initial goal of $13,500! The current total is $15,101 (and still growing). This has truly been the result of many people coming together to contribute to a common goal. Thank you for your support!
All new donations made from this point on will go directly to fund a much needed choral endowment. This fund will be used to impact the student experience by paying for the cost of scholarships, travel, retreats, and commissioning new music, among many other things.
Our goal for funding an initial 30k endowment is $43,500. With the momentum and support we've received so far, we know that this is possible!
Last week, we received the score written for the Chorale to sing at the 58th Annual Presidential Inauguration by Tennessee composer John Wykoff. The text was written for us by Pulitzer-Prize nominee Michael Dennis Browne.
Other than the Chorale members, you will be the first to read this newly crafted text: Now We Belong - Michael Dennis Browne
You are now vital members of our team as we stretch this goal to create a choral endowment. Please consider becoming an advocate by sharing this with your friends. The more people we have seeing this campaign, the better chance we'll have to reach our new goal.
Also, please take a look at the map of where our donors are located. We're hoping to light up more of the country! Send this to your friends far and wide, particularly to those places where we don't yet have any donors.
Lastly, consider offering a challenge or a matching donation. This can create huge momentum for the campaign. You can do a dollar for dollar match, or a challenge of some sort. It might be fun for you to create a far-reaching, wild-haired challenge, just to see if we can work together to get there.
Thanks for your continued support! I wish you the best this holiday season.
Cameron LaBarr
Good evening,
We're now less than $1,000 away from reaching our initial goal! Thank you for your continued support, both financially, and by spreading the word.
We can still use your help. Please feel free to contribute again - every gift counts, event if it's $5 or $25 or $100. That gets us one step closer.
Also - please share this directly with those you know who might be interested. Just ask them to watch the video - that says it all.
Currently we have a dollar for dollar match going for the next $220.
Also - note that next Tuesday is officially #GivingTuesday. Please consider making a gift of some sort on this day. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Look up your other favorite charities and consider giving to them on this day as well!
Thank you!
Cameron LaBarr
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your support of the MSU Chorale performance at the Presidential Inauguration! In just a little over 24 hours, we've raised over $4,400. Our goal is to make it to $6,000 by the end of the day and $9,000 by the end of the week.
You can continue to help by becoming an advocate of this campaign. Just copy and paste the advocate link and contact your friends, asking them to watch the video and consider contributing at any level. A personal message from you always is best!
If you'd like to give again, you might experiment a bit with the matching and challenge options. Please feel free to send any other ideas our way of how to get the word out about this. Thank you for your generous support!
Go Bears!
