The brand new Missouri State Mock Trial team had a very successful first year building two teams, competing at four national tournaments, and winning four "Outstanding Attorney Awards." We want to build on that success and create an even stronger team next year, but we need your help!
This year all tournaments were held via Zoom because of the pandemic, which made our costs relatively low. However, next year, travel to tournaments will likely resume greatly increasing our costs related to student travel and equipment.
Our goal is to attend at least 5 tournaments in the 2021 - 22 school year with 3 Mock Trial teams, comprised of a total of 23-25 students and 3 coaches.
We appreciate your support!
The Missouri State University Mock Trial Team was launched in 2020-21 by Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice Assistant Professor Dr. Jennifer LaPrade, who serves as the Head Coach, with Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Elizabeth Fax volunteering as Assistant Coach. Mock Trial creates an inclusive, encouraging, and close-knit environment for students to actively learn courtroom procedures and rules of evidence, as well as compete in mock trial tournaments against other universities across the nation. Not only are there academic benefits, but the club builds camaraderie, connection, and community within its participants.
