The exclusive "Rare Wine, Rare Books" annual event will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, in the Duane G. Meyer Library. Buy your tickets now for this unique dining and educational experience! Space is limited!
The evening includes a dinner with six flights of wine. This year's theme focuses on Theater and Drama. While guests enjoy their meal and wines, they will have the opportunity to view materials from Special Collections, including recent additions to the rare books collection.
This unique and exclusive event is a fundraiser for the Fraley Family Rare Books Endowment. Please plan to join us as we enjoy food and wine with a book-loving crowd!
Tickets are $150 per person. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27. Additional details will be sent to guests before that date.
If you cannot join us that evening, please consider making a donation to the endowment. It is through your support we are able to purchase books that support the MSU Libraries' goal to document the history of the book, as well as care for the volumes already in Special Collections.
Please contact Anne Baker, Head of Special Collections, with any questions: AnneBaker@missouristate.edu or 417-836-5428.
In addition, MSU alumni that make a qualifying gift of $25 or more receive an Active Alumni Member Card.

Thanks to the tickets purchased here and a few off-line sales, Rare Wine, Rare Books has sold out for the second year in a row!
About this time on Friday, we will be seated among the books in Meyer Library, enjoying Veal Osso Buco with a 2012 Antica Masseria Jorche, Primitivo Di Manduria Riserva from Italy.
Our guest speaker, Beth Domann from the Springfield Little Theatre, will have taken over the microphone. Prepare to be entertained!
The wine and food will continue through a fifth course, then we'll move down to Meyer Library's first floor where guests can mingle and enjoy a variety of desserts along with a nice German Riesling.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

On Friday, July 27, we will transform Meyer Library into a venue for a 6 course dinner! We will start in Special Collections, then head to the dinner among the books on the 2nd floor! The wine for the 2nd course is a 2016 Domaine Perraud, Macon Villages Vieilles Vignes. To complement the wine, the chef will create a surf and "turf" salad: Scallop, Edible Dirt, Carrot Tops, and Micro Greens.

Guests also get a chance to see some of our recent additions to the rare books collection.

On Friday, July 27, we will be kicking off Rare Wine, Rare Books with a Patrick Bottex "La Cueille” Bugey-Cerdon Sparkling Wine. Guests will have a chance to mingle and enjoy appetizers as we begin our evening. Tickets are still available for this six course, six flights of wine dinner that supports the rare books program at Missouri State University.

There are so many people who make this event a success! This year our speaker is Beth Domann, Executive Director of Springfield Little Theatre. Beth is known for her wit and warmth, and we look forward to hearing her tell us more about the history and workings of Springfield Little Theatre.
David Dain Smith is returning to describe the evening's wines, enhancing our knowledge of the six flights we'll be enjoying.
I'd also like to thank our sponsors for their dedicated support:
- Karen Horny
- Dr. and Mrs. Walter Gaska
- Randall Doennig and Dr. Stephen Adams
- Jennifer Hargis, Evans & Dixon, LLC
- Mark McQueary
- Dr. Linda Robertson
- Dr. Thomas M. Johnson

Thanks to support from two sponsors, this year the meal will go to a new level, perfectly complementing the wine! More on the wine and the food will be posted here over the next few weeks.
We hope to see you on July 27th!
