Experience the power of community this #MillsGiving, 2020
Welcome to the fifth annual #MillsGiving where donors and advocates like you come together to make a heroic difference in the lives of our students, who are working hard—both through a pandemic and an economic crisis—to secure their education and futures.
You are a crucial part of the Mills community—a microcosm of society, representing diverse thought, challenges, and passions. When you bolster this community with the power of your gift, you’re strengthening our society as a whole by preparing students to tackle and solve its toughest questions when they graduate. Thank you.
This year, you can help us gain the support of 300 donors for a total of $75,000. Your gift, of any amount, will aid us in getting there. More than that, when you participate as an Advocate, you can inspire gifts from others, ensuring the campaign’s success. Create a challenge that dares donors to take a specific action for unlocking your gift, or simply create a matching gift to encourage donor contributions. Spread the news of the campaign on social media or in personal messages—and earn Mills swag when you do!
Thank you for seeing the value in a Mills education and for believing in the power of our community.
Thank you so much for making #MillsGiving 2020 an amazing success! We are thrilled and inspired by the outpouring of support from alums, parents, trustees, staff and faculty! The Mills community set record-breaking results again this year with participation at double our donor goal and with gifts at more than double our dollar goal—623 donors raising $179,607 in all. THANK YOU!
We're pleased to announce the Class of 1990 surged to first place for participation this year with an outstanding 38 donors, earning them a class-wide special virtual event with President Hillman. Donors in the class will also receive snappy Mills-branded shoelaces, which we hope they will sport on social media and, in the future, on campus. Not going down without a fight, the Class of 1992 came in second with an impressive 31 donors, who earned their own shot at some spoils so they, too, shall receive shoelaces.
We offer special thanks to the campaign advocates and volunteers who promoted the campaign on social media and reached out to classmates and friends. We had more advocates this year than ever before contributing to the success of the campaign!
With that, please reflect on your accomplishments this #MillsGiving along with what the Mills community means to you as you enjoy this rendition of “Remember” by Viji Nakka-Cammauf, MA ’82, president of the Alumnae Association of Mills College and student Lila Goehring ’21.
In gratitude,
The Mills College Annual Fund Staff and Supporters
2033 days ago by Nikole AdamsYou are showing your true Strong-Proud-All-Mills selves this #MillsGiving by reaching our #MillsGiving goal of 300 donors and $75,000! With alums, faculty, staff, trustees, and parents hopping on the bandwagon together, this has been a truly community-wide effort.
Thank you to those who have given early, shared the campaign broadly, and created (very competitive) Challenge and Matching gifts to boost their own class’s donor numbers, which you can check out on the Leaderboard. But we’re not done yet.
This year, the class that brings in the highest number of donors by midnight today will enjoy an exclusive virtual gathering for all classmates with Mills President Beth Hillman. Donors in that class will also receive bragging rights in the form of Mills-branded shoelaces, which they may proudly wear and share on social media, and show off next time we gather on campus!
To inspire you further, we share with you a Strong-Proud-All-Mills tribute to #MillsGiving by student Lila Goehring ’21. (Lyrics appear below the video on YouTube.)
Thanks to your gift and advocacy we are two-thirds of the way to meeting our goals for #MillsGiving 2020! We just reached 225 donors and $63,000. Thank you! Please continue to encourage your friends and classmates to participate by using the share links adjacent to the "Give Now" button and sharing the campaign on social media, by email, or by text message.
Happy #MillsGiving!
To share their gratitude for nature and the land on campus, talented student workers Gabi and Micah joined Mills Community Farm Manager Julia Dashe for a rendition of “Brilliant Mycelium” by Beautiful Chorus. We are grateful, too, for the early tide of gifts to Mills from thankful alumnae, faculty, staff, and parents this #MillsGiving. Consider creating a Match or Challenge today to bolster the numbers, and be sure to share this campaign as an Advocate!
2035 days ago by Nikole AdamsHere’s your chance to work off any of those big meals you might have planned: In celebration of #MillsGiving, join Trina Cook ’93 (use the tag #Millsies) for a morning live ride or an evening scenic ride on Peloton! On Tuesday, 12/1, we’ll “swarm” at 8:30 am Pacific for the 20-minute Hip Hop Ride with Peloton Instructor Emma Lovewell and again at 6:00 pm Pacific for the 30-minute Land and Water Scenic Ride (found on the Peloton app under Featured/Popular Scenic Rides or on the bike under More/Scenic Rides). Use the Here Now function on the Peloton leaderboard and high-five your way through these rides and then let those miles inspire your #MillsGiving!
