University life comes with a wide range of challenges — availability of nutritious food shouldn’t be one of them. At Millikin University, we recognize that individuals perform their best when their basic needs are met, starting with a reliable source of food.

The Millikin Market was launched on November 4, 2025 to address food insecurity within the Millikin University community. With 99% of Millikin students receiving financial aid, and nearly 50% Pell-eligible — a population disproportionately affected by food insecurity — the need is significant and growing. Designed to support students with limited or no meal plans, the Market is operated by trained volunteers, includes robust inventory tracking, and relies on strong community partnerships. The Market strives to integrate education and share connections to campus and community resources within a supportive, stigma-free environment, strengthening the stability, resilience, and long-term success of the Millikin Big Blue community.
