Gifts to Swimming contribute to...
Dive in and support Millikin Swimming with your generosity! Swimming teams at Millikin have a distinctive and record-breaking history. From 1985 to 1988, Men’s Swimmer Rodney Miller, Class of 1988, won six individual NCAA Division III national championship titles for his excellence in swimming. Overall, the Men’s Swimming teams have won six CCIW Conference Championship titles. The Women’s Swimming team was established in 1981. Among their noted alumni is Marcia Morey, Class of 1978, who defied expectations and broke down barriers by training and swimming competitively with the Men’s Swimming Team at Millikin before an official’s Women’s Swimming team was founded at the Big Blue. Morey went on to win seven U.S. national titles in the breaststroke and was a member of the U.S. Women’s Swim team for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games.

A note from Coach Ed Pacey - Financial support from donors and fundraising efforts by our team allow us to continue the program, and provide a full competitive swim experience to our athletes without them incurring significant out of pocket costs. We strive, even after financial cuts at Millikin, to continue to provide racing suits and training gear to our athletes that used to be in the budget. It costs almost $1,000 per athlete to provide technical racing suits each year. While most swim programs have passed those cost in part to their athletes, we have tried to go the opposite direction and lower athlete out of pocket costs. Fundraising and donor generosity is also how we subsidize the cost of winter training trips for our athletes. Our goal is to see an improvement in every athlete, to raise their level in the sport through skill development, hard work and love of the sport. Our main goal first and foremost is to maintain high academic achievement while managing the time it takes to train competitively. Our Women's teams have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher for numerous semesters in a row, achieving NCAA Scholastic All American Honors. Our men's GPA has improved (just missing the 3.0 last year). We are on target to make Academic All American team status on the men's side for the first time in several years, and will be very proud of that accomplishment.
