The Presidential Internship in Public Service
The District of Columbia – United States capitol and national public service hub – offers a plethora of rich summer internship opportunities for university students. From congressional internships and executive agencies to major national organizations, these internships are often unpaid and out of reach for MSU Denver students. MSU Denver, the Institute for Public Service, and the Classroom to Career Hub have collaborated to facilitate more Roadrunner students to take advantage of these opportunities, ensuring our diverse community learns from and impacts the national service community.
The Presidential Internship in Public Service offers cohorts of MSU Denver students a fully-funded opportunity to live and work in Washington, D.C. for 10 weeks. Each student intern receives funding to cover tuition and fees, a stipend, travel to and from the nation's capital, housing and public transportation expenses. This opportunity was made possible by the generosity of our donors.
“By funding these internships, we are removing barriers to public-service opportunities that are often out of reach for so many students,” President Davidson said. “This is about strengthening our democracy by diversifying the public-sector pipeline so that those who make decisions in the public interest are representative of those they serve. I am so proud of our first cohorts of students. They are remarkably talented and motivated, and I know their experiences were transformational.”

"I think that representation is really important, so that's why I'm so driven to work in public service. I want to be a voice for the Hispanic community, immigrant community, and of course, women." - Jackie Alderete Urena, first-generation student, Presidential Intern in Public Service
