The Pre-Law Program @ MSU Denver is helping Roadrunners soar on to law school! To continue to do so, we need your help providing MSU Denver’s diverse student body with all the tools to succeed. While LSAT scores dominate law schools’ admissions and financial aid decisions, our students face financial hurdles that preclude them from engaging with an LSAT Prep course to bolster LSAT scores and open more options for law school. After a successful pilot in 2022 and full run in 2023, we are asking for your help providing LSAT preparation courses at no-cost to our students. We have been able engage over two dozen students with this program and we need your support to continue our work diversifying the legal pipeline. Please donate and spread the word through social media and your professional networks!
The pre-law advising program’s mission is to help students prepare the strongest case for admission to a law school through dedicated advising, information, programming related to law school and the law school application process, our new Mock Trial team, support for LSAT preparation and outreach to students interested in applying to law school after graduation. And we support students across the university, regardless of their major.
To give our diverse student body equitable access to law school and directly impact the composition of the law school pipeline, MSU Denver’s Pre-Law Program provides LSAT Prep courses at no cost to select students in our program. To do this efficiently, we have negotiated a substantially discounted rate through a nationally recognized third party provided. This approach has been tremendously successful. Our students were admitted to a variety of law schools, including some with significant scholarships to CU and DU Law, and several have received full ride scholarships to other well-respected law schools.
The Pre-Law Advising program at MSU Denver plays a key role in facilitating a diverse pipeline to the legal profession, as our students represent the most racially/ethnically and economically diverse pipeline to law schools and legal careers of any institution in the state—MSU Denver is a Hispanic/Minority Serving Institution and half of our pre-law program participants are first generation college students. However, racial/ethnic and financial disparities are well-documented in LSAT scores, and that disparity remains a significant contributor to the lack of diversity in the legal profession. As Roadrunners, we are fighting hard to overcome this disparity by providing no-cost LSAT prep courses our students. Help us continue this work with your donation and spread the word about this opportunity to your networks. In doing so, you are not alone. The Department of Political Science is also committing some of their limited funds to this effort and generally supports the Pre-Law Program. Together, we can continue to encourage our Roadrunners to soar!
