The Department of French and Francophone Studies at Macalester College aligns with the institution's commitment to internationalism and multiculturalism. It prepares students in French language, cultures, literatures, visual representations, and critical thinking, providing language competencies for non-French majors and offering courses in diverse disciplinary areas related to France and the francophone world. Actively collaborating with various programs, the department enhances interdisciplinary perspectives, contributing to fields such as Media and Cultural Studies, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and International Studies.
