Environmental Studies at Macalester is an interdisciplinary department focused on understanding environmental issues globally. Through a holistic approach, students develop the ability to think systematically about complex problems, communicate with specialists from various fields, and appreciate diverse disciplines and perspectives. Aligned with Macalester’s internationalism mission, students are encouraged to engage in off-campus national and international programs to address the global nature of environmental challenges.
