Support Our Native American Students

The Native Student Support Initiatives program was established in 2022 with strong advocacy from Native American students. It exists to serve and support the diverse and changing needs of Native American students in their time at Metropolitan State University of Denver. We strive to provide relevant, accessible and engaging programs and resources, and promote intertribal and cross-cultural approaches to community building with a social justice lens. We work to partner with both off and on-campus communities to provide students with the best experience possible in their time here, while also supporting continuing growth and understanding of their individual identities as Native American people. We also work to bring the histories, experiences and worldviews into a valued realm within the University.

Your Support

During our students' time of need, your support is critical. You can help our students with a gift in any of these areas:

Native American/Indigenous Emergency Fund: 

The Native American Fund is an emergency stipend for MSU Denver students who are experiencing financial distress. Funds will cover housing costs, medical expenses, unexpected educational costs such as books and supplies, and other financially difficult situations.

Native Programming:

Your donation to this fund will help support programming on campus to foster a culturally inclusive space for students to encompass belongingness. Funding through this fund will be used to continue to build community through annual programming and to support our students in their academic and professional growth, such as conferences, study abroad, fellowships and leadership summits.

How else can you support Native American Students?

Stay informed about legislation/engage in advocacy.

Talk with your friends and share information about Native American topics.

Arrange for local Native American Consultants and Organizations to talk with your affiliated organizations.

Show support at rallies/events and/or wear messages.

MSU Denver is dedicated to increasing access, retention and graduation rates for Native
American/Indigenous students. To do this, students need additional support from the community through funding for the Native Emergency Fund and the cultural/professional development fund. MSU Denver is dedicated to honoring our students and helping them succeed.
