Gifts to Pre-Law Mock Trial Team contribute to...

The Pre-Law Program @MSU Denver is helping Roadrunners soar on to law school! To continue to do so, we need your help providing MSU Denver’s diverse student body with all the tools to succeed. Among those tools is the experience of competing on our Mock Trial Team. MSU Denver’s Mock Trial Team is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, public speaking, and legal advocacy skills among students. By participating in mock trials, our team members gain invaluable experience that prepares them for successful applications to law school and legal careers. Please donate and spread the word through social media and your professional networks!
Started in fall 2021, the team initially competed intramurally and in the American Mock Trial Association’s tournaments starting in the 2022-2023 academic year. In 2023 and 2024, MSU Denver fielded one team, allowing 10 students to participate in this key student engagement opportunity for pre-law students. In 2025, student interest soared to levels where we fielded two 10-person teams.
And our Roadrunners soared! In the past two regional competitions, team members won two “best attorney” awards, two “best witness” awards and the team as a whole won the spirit award in 2024. In 2025, our team took on prestigious schools once again, and for the first time in team history won a bid to the second, Champion, round of the AMTA's tournament. They are well on their way to the goal of becoming a regional powerhouse and national competitor. Moreover, ALL of the team members applying to law schools gained admission with many receiving full or substantial scholarships to schools such as the University of Colorado, the University of Denver, Marquette, the University of San Diego, Washington University, St. Louis, Nebraska and many others.
But we need help to continue our path to excellence. Your support will cover the costs of travel and lodging, materials, tournament registration and related items allowing us to not only show up to tournaments but bring the same level of preparation and support of our well-funded competition.
By supporting our Mock Trial Team, you are investing in the future of legal excellence. Your contribution will empower our students to achieve their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities. Mock trial competitions provide a hands-on learning experience that goes beyond the classroom. Students develop a deep understanding of legal procedures, case analysis, and courtroom decorum. Our team members enhance their abilities in research, teamwork, and persuasive communication. These skills are essential not only for legal careers but for any professional path they choose to pursue. Competing in regional and national tournaments allows our students to connect with peers, legal professionals, and potential mentors. These connections can open doors to internships, job opportunities, and lifelong friendships.
Pre-Law Advising program at MSU Denver also plays a key role in facilitating a diverse pipeline to the legal profession, as our students represent the most racially/ethnically and economically diverse pipeline to law schools and legal careers of any institution in the state—MSU Denver is a Hispanic/Minority Serving Institution and half of our pre-law program participants are first generation college students. Thus, as you likely know, our work is all the more important at this time.
