Aerobatics Team

The MSU Denver Aerobatic Flight Team is one of the fastest-growing and highest-awarded collegiate aerobatic teams in the nation. MSU’s aerobatic teams boast 5 national championships, the most recent of which being this year. Our team strives to produce high-quality pilots, leaders, and changemakers.

In the most recent season, the aerobatic team received an extraordinary donation - Game Aerospace’s GB1 Gamebird - which allowed the team to soar to new heights, competing with enhanced speed and precision. MSU is the only university in the nation to possess an airplane of this caliber, with the GB1 being the only American-made airplane capable of unlimited aerobatics. The airplane was graciously given to MSU by an anonymous donor; the gift of the airplane represents the desire the aerobatic community has to help everyone be safe and successful.

Aircraft maintenance, traffic advisories, and preflight safety precautions are all aspects the team performs with excellence. With the combined effort of the school and aerobatic community’s coaches, students, volunteers, and air traffic controllers, the team works with great passion and commitment to maintain an outstanding standard of safety.

The team’s popularity has increased rapidly with the recent addition of the Gamebird. The newfound interest has provided challenges when it comes to funding, as we have not had the means to keep up with the growing number of team aspirants. The price the students pay for the plane is much lower than anywhere else in the nation, being only a fraction of the operating cost, with the rest of the funds coming from generous donations and subsidies. Your contribution would allow us to keep aerobatics affordable, and expand our mission to give this opportunity to those who do not have it anywhere else.

As proud members of the Metropolitan State University of Denver Aerobatic Team, we are thrilled to represent our university in competition. Our multiple National Champion titles highlight the exceptional quality of the MSU Denver Aviation program. Backed by our aviation department, dedicated coaches, captains, and teammates, we are more determined than ever to keep this prestigious title.
