Mission
The purpose of the Loyola organization is to provide students of African or Caribbean descent a safe space to professionally network and create a tight-knit community. While going away to college and being torn away from close families and friends, it is crucial to be in a community that respects and understands a culture that isn't always at the forefront of American media. This provides students with these ethnic backgrounds a level of familiarity while expanding their education at Loyola.
What Funds Will Go To
Our purpose for fundraising is to raise awareness in communities other than our own, about political and social issues that are ongoing in African and Caribbean countries. We also want to educate others about traditions of African and Caribbean descent. The funds raised will partially be used to donate towards supporting Caribbean and African countries in need (Ethiopia, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Nigeria, etc.) The funds will also directly impact the Loyola Community because they will be used to fund events catered to African and Caribbean cultures and the promotion of diversity throughout Loyola's campus.
