The Illinois Department of Corrections and Lewis University have formed a powerful duo in providing incarcerated adults the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies. This flexible degree program is finely tuned to develop professional skills, offering hope and opportunity to those working toward a brighter future. Faculty from Lewis’ Romeoville campus hit the road to instruct students at Sheridan Correctional Center, delivering the same dynamic coursework they provide to students in Romeoville. This program brings the transformative power of education to a population often silenced, helping these students find their voice and compose a new chapter in their lives.
Aligned with our Lasallian mission of advocacy for social justice, your gift to Lewis’ Prison Education program is the key to making this symphony of second chances possible. With education as their instrument, students can secure meaningful jobs, while we help reduce recidivism and play a role in creating safer communities.
