LU Aero is a student run organization with a goal to advance aviation and flight education to Lehigh students. We teach our members about flight mechanics, aircraft design, manufacturing, electronics, and material design. We construct several RC aircraft each year and test them on flight grounds on our own Goodman campus. Every other year we attend the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Design Build Fly competition in Wichita, Kansas. We build a competition plane for this event which must meet certain FAA flight standards and be designed to complete that year's unique annual mission. This is an amazing opportunity for our members to gain real world test engineering skills and to meet aerospace students and professionals from all over the country. Contributions made to our campaign will help us attend the 2026 AIAA Design Build Fly Competition, where we will hopefully be able to debut our new carbon fiber aircraft. We hope to bring more of our members along for this experience, especially more younger students, to give them exposure to engineering skills that will ensure our success in future competitions and the club's longevity.
